Clay is an amazing material that responds to your touch. It can be pinched, squeezed and moulded to create anything. This pottery workshop can capture your children’s imagination and free their creativity.
Workshop programme
Thursday 5th august 10am –12pm ….Pinch pot bells
We will create a pinch pot, in which we form a pot from a single lump of clay. We can add patterns and designs using texture and stamps and add coloured slip to the pot to give it a character. It can be a tyrannosaurus rex or a fairy princess. Then we will make some legs to hang below to give our bell a ring when it is fired and hung.
Thursday 12th August 10am –12pm ….Cosy coiled pot
We will roll out coils with our hands and learn how to position them to create different shapes. adding spirals and patterns as we go. Express your self through one of the oldest forms of pottery.
Thursday 19th August 10am –12pm ….Picture perfect plaque
We will plan a simple picture on paper and use that drawing to create a layered scene on a tile with texture and colour
Thursday 26th August 10am –12pm
….Making myself in clay
A great lesson in careful looking, We use tools and fingers to build up clay to recreate your own likeness, sculpting a mini portrait in clay.

Adult classes
Enjoy the challenge of working in three dimensions in clay. Choose your subject and work from photographs to produce a likeness in clay, or produce a vase from textured slabs. Full support for what ever you would like your project to be. Weekly ongoing classes last 2 hours allowing you to work at your own pace. There is a maximum of 4 students per class so there is plenty of guidance available. In a small but well equipped, friendly studio.
